Olivia Denton Thomas, also known as The Brand Counselor, helps Black women and friends move from hustling to wholeness through powerful brand strategy that builds identity and culture for better sales.
Working with business owners to scale client bases, raise capital, and build teams, enabling them to make more money while working less overtime, Olivia uses her background in public relations, publishing, and her Master’s in digital journalism to help founders build and tell the most compelling strategic stories that resonate deeply across digital and traditional platforms taking them from Flustered To Flourishing.
Brand Strategy is Business Strategy. And we don’t just brand businesses, we restore founders to themselves. Why do I do this?
I love my business and have been happy to help others connect with their audiences, but there was a time when I didn’t feel connected with myself. My drive to do well in business was really based on the desire to escape being a “statistic.” I’d had my son at a young age and was looking for something I could control to prove I was worthy. I got degrees, and I started a business, but I was deeply filled with shame.
Knowing that I wanted more for my son, I started going to therapy and learned that I could release the hardships that I had in my mind around who I was and what I was worth. I realized that my business didn’t have to exist to prove something but to create something and help others feel the freedom that I was learning (and I’m still learning to experience).
It’s about unfolding. The more I remove the layers of hardships, the more I am able to not only operate my business well but to communicate how special the work is and help others who may be feeling the way that I’ve felt, whether it’s from family, life situations or even the social ideas around who you are and should be.
